I am a Democratic Precinct Committeeman from Arizona. I object to having the discussion of Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare, as part of the debate for raising the debt ceiling. If these programs’ need to be reorganized for long term fiscal stability and health of the programs, they need to be debated as entities unto themselves and not along with the debated in the pressure cooker atmosphere of raising the debt ceiling. Pull them off the table; invoke the 14th Amendment and raise the debt ceiling. Let the Supreme Court sort it out. Until this debt ceiling is raised, credit will be tight, for lenders will not risk their money in a time of uncertainty. There will be not increase in jobs, thus no recovery. Act now and let us move on to more important issues for debate

A letter the Az. Republic
Pistol Packing Momma
As a supporter to 2nd amendment rights, I think that your article on “Parents Teaching Hunting Safety, Tradition to Kids” should have been on the front page. The article mentioned hunter safety classes and practice in the field. The same as I was taught by my father. It appears Lori Klein R- Anthem did not receive this type of training. She displayed a loaded pistol, with safety off, where either she pointed the pistol at, or allowed someone to move in front of her loaded firearm. This was extremely irresponsible.
It would not be unreasonable; at the time of the purchase of a firearm, to have people read and sign a document that informs them of basic firearm safety information. The cost to the consumer would be minimal. One can assume that a “well regulated militia” strongly indicates that the militia-persons would know how to use a firearm, so they did not shoot the person next to them.

LATEST MADNESS
The madness continues:
- Jobs: now I am a bank. I am not going to finance anything with the spectra of the U.S. defaulting on the debt, which will create financial havoc in the world market place, ergo no money to expand and create jobs, go figure.
- Elections: The Supreme Court in its partisan wisdom, again claims massive spend on a campaign is free speech in striking down, Clean Election's matching funds. I give $5 to many candidates for election, as do many others. Do we not have free speech? If we agree to have our $5 used for matching funds is that our free speech, go figure.
- City: City Counsel ( minus Mr. Gates) voted to spend $63K on stop lights on 7th st. & 7th ave. that no one wants and the city can not afford, and then fight against raises for employees that will pump money into the economy with increased spending, go figure.
